Last night, Henry Rollins performed for the first time in Bloomington, Indiana's Buskirk-Chumley Theater. I had seen Henry perform once before last night - Saturday, 2006 February 11 at American University in Washington, DC. Both performances were fantastic; both times Mr. Rollins exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high based on how much I have enjoyed his writing, music, and acting.
Check out some clips from the tour here: http://spiritof68promotions.com/?p=738 , and if you get a chance to see Hank on this tour, or at any other time: GO SEE HENRY ROLLINS. Read his books and posts and listen to his music and watch his shows and movies, too, but his live shows are the most unique. He continually demonstrates how much he cares about his audience. In any prerecorded format, that kind of care can be indemonstrable or can go unnoticed; in a packed theater, you can sense his intense interest and hopefulness.
Whether you agree with the man is irrelevant. He is thoughtful, interesting, and he has a lot to say. Most of what he says is worth hearing.
If you can't catch him and love YouTube videos, here is some footage from his Dublin show from this tour:
